Making Downtown Winnipeg Better…Together
Here are a few ways you can get involved:
- Join a Downtown BIZ Committee. Choose from Community Safety, Image & Cleanliness, Transportation, Parking & Transit or Marketing & Events
- Organize a Downtown Tour for your office and learn more about the area. The BIZ will tailor a tour for you and take you around downtown. Call our Downtown Watch ambassadors at 958-4627.
- Sign up to receive the Downtown BUZZ e-newsletter to stay on top of downtown events and happenings.
- Volunteer for a downtown event like Doors Open Winnipeg or the Winnipeg Fringe Festival.
- Take it upon yourself to pick up one piece of litter every day.
- Become a downtown cheerleader or champion, and every time you hear something negative about downtown, contradict it.
- Write to your City Councillors, Mayor or a local paper about how to improve downtown.
- Bring out of town guests to the city centre to check out all the great things.
- Does the property around your work have a litter or cigarette butt problem? Phone the BIZ to get it under control: 958-4624.
- Phone the Downtown BIZ to get posters of downtown to put up in your office: 958-4623.
- Nominate a downtown business to receive a Downtown BIZ Achievement Award
- Place brochures or downtown maps in your office foyer so people can learn more about Downtown BIZ. Call the BIZ at 958-4623. Brochures like the “Get More” guide are ideal for Winnipeggers or downtowners to help find all the shops, entertainment and dining spots downtown.
- Call the BIZ to become an official Downtown Contact for your workplace. We’ll send you brochures and posters to distribute to your co-workers.
- Organize a Clean-up Day for your office or group to go out and pick up litter. The BIZ will help! Call 958-4624.
- Report graffiti to the City of Winnipeg’s Graffiti Hotline: 986-1234.
- Plan outings downtown for your co-workers or a group you belong to: choose from an IMAX film, a lunchtime concert, an exhibit at the Winnipeg Art Gallery or the Dalnavert Museum. Take the Downtown Spirit to The Forks or go for a ride on the waterbus.
