Downtown Trends Market Research Report & Pedestrian Counts
Downtown Trends, the BIZ’s market research report, features survey results and pedestrian counts for entrepreneurs, realtors and current retailers. The report was circulated to commercial realtors across Canada. Local commercial realtors also enjoyed a tour of local office and retail spaces to inform them about opportunities downtown. The initiative was sponsored by CentreVenture, Destination Winnipeg, Exchange District BIZ and Winnipeg Realtors®.

Downtown Retail Plan
Downtown stakeholders and a New York City retail consultant are working on a retail retention and recruitment plan to attract prospective retailers to key downtown shopping areas.
Workshops & Presentations
The Downtown BIZ runs workshops throughout the year for the interested public on topics such as safety and an introduction to downtown Winnipeg, as well as for our business members on issues including retail improvement and marketing.

Customer Service Workshop (free!)
Are you looking to improve staff moral, team building, and personal development while taking your customer service to a level of excellence? Then this workshop is for you!
The Downtown BIZ offers dynamic and exciting customer service training presentations to all BIZ members for absolutely no charge. Presentations can be customized for one hour or one full day depending on your needs and requirements.

Free Power Washing
Every spring the Downtown BIZ Metro Enviro-Team offers free pressure washes to downtown businesses to help in their spring cleaning efforts.
Downtown businesses are invited to contact the BIZ at 958-4624 to book a pressure wash to remove the springtime dust and mud from their storefront buildings.
The BIZ Metro Enviro-Team use pressure washers to spray down small businesses’ façades, awnings, windows and doors in minutes. It’s all part of the Downtown BIZ’s efforts to make downtown sparkle through the half million dollar Downtown BIZ Metro Enviro-Team program, which receives support from the City of Winnipeg department of Public Works. Every summer, the 20-person team is out in full force picking up litter, removing graffiti and planting flowers.
Setting up a Downtown Patio
Patios add life to downtown’s streets and create a feeling of vibrancy and action which rubs off on your restaurant or business. Plus, what better way to enjoy a beautiful summer day than relaxing on a patio with friends or co-workers and a refreshing cold beverage?

Want to try it out?
The Downtown BIZ wants to help you set up a patio in front of your restaurant. We’ll even lend you the patio furniture and fencing, and you pay the fees.
- We come and set up the patio furniture and fencing on your property
- You get to try out the patio set for one month, on loan from the BIZ
- First come, first serve. We have three openings for June, July and August.
