“a marvelous play, painfully funny and passionately serious" - sunday times
Sometimes students end up being the best teachers. Frank is a poet and a professor of English literature whose disillusioned outlook on life drives him to the bottle. Rita is a hairdresser from the wrong side of the tracks, hungry to find some meaning to life. But when the cigarette-smoking, gum-chewing and fast-talking Rita shows up in Frank's office and demands an education, he is forced to re-evaluate his cynical attitude in the face of her enthusiasm.
The resulting clash of expectations, assumptions and social class leads to a funny, honest and heartfelt examination of the ups and downs of formal education – and of life.
