201 Portage Canada Day Living Maple Leaf – July 1, 2017
We invite everyone to join us as we celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday by creating the maple leaf at Portage & Main!
Join us from 8am-10am for the annual, fun celebration to kick off your Canada Day!
Please wear a red shirt. The first 2,500 guests will receive their official Canada Day Living Maple Leaf shirt.
Portage Avenue East, from Main Street to Westbrook will be closed starting at 6am. The tshirt giveaways will happen on Portage Avenue East, starting at 8am.
The intersection of Portage and Main will close from 8am-10am for the event.
You’re encouraged to walk, bike or utilize public transit to get to the event. Parking is available on the street and in lots and parkades in the downtown. On Saturdays, the first two hours of parking is complimentary for the on the street spots that you normally would use the paystation for. Learn more about getting downtown by clicking HERE.
The concourse will be open and volunteers will be around to guide you up to the Richardson Building, which will be a great spot as it’s near the tshirt giveaway.
Please listen to our emcee for information on when to start forming the flag.
Once we’re in position, the event will include the CIBC re-affirmation of the Canadian Oath and then the singing of O’Canada. Pictures will happen after this and we’ll try to get that photo up, right here on this page, shortly following the event.
The event is rain or shine and we can’t wait to see you out!
Thank you to all of our very special sponsors: 201 Portage, Canadian Heritage, CBC Manitoba, Winnipeg Sun, Special T-Shirt Company, Winnipeg Goldeyes, The Flag Shop, Telenium, QX104.
